City of Vicenza Italy, Seen from Above

Spread out in a gap between the Berici Hills to the south and the Lessini Mountains to the northeast, the city of Vicenza was developed between the bends of the Bacchiglione, Retrone and Astichello rivers. Since 1994 the city has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with 23 monuments in its historic center and at least 16 villas in the province, attributable to the late Renaissance creativity of Andrea Palladio, the famous architect born in Padua, but who moved here at 16. The area can be explored anytime during the year because of the varied landscape and many points of artistic, cultural, and historical interest.  Also the area has a mild climate that is somewhere between Mediterranean and Temperate, although it can have a few days of harsh and rainy weather in the winter, as well as hot and muggy days in the summer. COVID TRAVEL IN ITALY JAN 2022

Travel and COCID in Italy is greatly restricted still with small windows of hope that things will open to international visitors in the coming months.  However, as is par for Italy rules and enforcement of restrictions are confusing and subjectivity envorced.  As I have tried to explain many times Italy may be a identity but by no means does it operate as a whole. Each region and many times individual provinces and larger cities create their own sub rules or interpretation of decrees issued by Roma.   A good example is currently developed in the Veneto. The Veneto region has been pushing for automy for a years now and within the Veneto the Belluno province has wanted to aline itself with Tyrol region of Austria.  The Bellune province covers a large area of the Dolomites and is very dependant on tourism.  So as the region is currently still in orange protocols this is a news release from the Dolomite tourism organization.
